Having longer toes makes you a faster sprinter.
10 Jan
Kinesiologists (researchers of movement) at Pennsylvania State University have found that successful short distance runners have toes roughly half an inch longer than average which is actually something that makes them mechanically less fit to sprint. But it does give the sprinter a fractionally longer amount of time with their foot in contact with the ground, giving them longer to push against it.
It’s also helpful to have shorter lower legs and heels but what is unknown as yet is whether the athletes were born this way or whether it is cased from such regular sprinting.
