Give Books Give Smiles – In 1990, a study showed that it would take until 2060 for India to achieve universal literacy

This however isn’t the greatest problem. There is a huge gap in literacy per gender with 76.9% of men being literate but only 54.55% of Indian women being literate which has been shown to have a dramatically negative impact on family planning and population stabilization efforts.
This gap appears to be narrowing but there is still much work to be done. Helping the children of India to overcome this literacy hurdle is a great way of helping. There is a donation link at the bottom of this post; please help however you can.
The mission of “Give Books Give Smiles” is to bring books to poor and unprivileged children in India. These children never have gotten an opportunity to go to school. They probably have never seen or touched a book which made them smile. “Give Books Give Smiles” wants to bring smiles to these children by giving them books which they can look at and feel the joy that they deserve.
